Alliance2015 members Concern and Welthungerhilfe launched in Monrovia the 2021 Global Hunger Index Liberia with the intention of discussing the need for adequate and sustained investments in food security and nutrition programming in the country. The launch, titled “African Year of Nutrition: the role of Leadership for A food and Nutrition Secured Liberia” wanted to highlight the findings of the GHI report of 2021 and engage with the Government of Liberia and the stakeholders to counteract food insecurity in the country.
Liberia is the West African country that scores higher at the Global Hunger Index, with a score of 33.3. Even though its GHI score has decreased by 14.8 points since 2000, it is still categorized as serious, and experts fear that hunger will increase, since this decline seen since the beginning of the century is slowing down.
