One Decade to Zero Hunger – How can we shape EU programming on food and nutrition security to Leave No One Behind?

12th October marked the release of the 2020 Global Hunger Index (GHI), an annual report that measures global hunger and highlights areas for action, published by Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe. Tracking hunger globally since 2006, the 2020 Global Hunger Index addresses the links between health and sustainable food systems. With only one decade remaining to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030, the report acknowledges the crucial progress made but raises alarm on COVID-19’s impact on food systems and its long-term implications on hunger worldwide.

Alliance2015 and the Irish and German Permanent Representations to the European Union have organised an exchange on 20th October 2020, between EU decision makers and CSOs, on how EU leadership on nutrition is most effectively operationalised through the NDICI programming cycle to close the gap on SDG2.

The online event uses a focus on Sierra Leone and Malawi for participants from the EU Member States, Members of the European Parliament and European Commission Geographic Units to concretely discuss the whys and hows to best integrate and prioritise Food and Nutrition Security in the upcoming programming cycle.
