Bolivia is trying to cushion the effects generated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the fall in oil price. The recovery will require actions to secure stability, promote the private sector, and protect the most vulnerable. Given the health emergency, all possible mechanisms should be employed to reduce the human cost of the crisis and to create an enabling environment for an economic recovery.
Development Challenges
Bolivia is exposed to various risks associated with the external context, including the volatility of commodity prices, the global economic slowdown, and shocks in international markets. Bolivia is also vulnerable to climate-related disasters, such as the drought that is affecting different regions of the country, and to other internal factors like large-scale forest fires.
